Learn Uph Upgrade Is Coming!
We are currently in the process in upgrading our LMS (learn.uph.edu) from Moodle 4.1 to 4.5, the latest stable version with long-term security support. The new system is currently in the development process, and we expect that you can access it on August 1, 2025. This upgrade will bring some tangible improvements for the students and lecturers’ experience, such as:
1. User Interface Improvements
Moodle 4.5 has a familiar feel for people upgrading from 4.1, but there are multiple small changes that can improve the lecturers’ and students’ experience in editing and organizing courses, such as navigating course using sidebar.

2. Better Grading and Learning Analytics
The new Moodle will have an enhanced analytics dashboard, allowing the lecturers to see in more detail the needs and progress for each student.

3. AI Subsystem
Moodle 4.5 has AI Subsystem built in, and in the coming months, lecturers can use the AI to create text, images, and summaries within Moodle.

4. Faster and More Stable
We are upgrading our Learn UPH on a new clean server, which is expected to bring better performance and a more stable experience for the day-to-day use of Learn UPH.
Important for Lecturers: Course Backup
The new Learn UPH will be moved to a new server, and the data from the current Learn UPH will not be carried to the new server. As lecturers, you may want to bring activities (assignment, quiz, etc), resources (reading materials, videos, etc), and question bank to the new Learn UPH. To do so, lecturers need to use the ‘backup course’ feature on the current Learn UPH and download the courses to their own device before July 15. After August 1, you can then restore the courses on the new Learn UPH. The guide for the course backup process can be seen in the following link: Backup Course Guideline
