Lecturers, Let’s Build the Future with Microcredentials!
What Are Microcredentials?
According to Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023, Article 43, microcredentials are officially recognized as a means to strengthen competencies. But beyond earning them – why should lecturers create microcredentials? Microcredentials (or micro-certifications) are short, focused learning programs designed to validate specific skills or knowledge. They are flexible, modular, and tailored to current industry or educational needs.
Why Should Lecturers Start Creating Microcredentials?
- Support Life Long Learning
By designing microcredentials, lecturers contribute to flexible and accessible learning that supports students’ ongoing skill development – both inside and outside formal degree programs.
- Showcase Academic Expertise
Creating microcredentials allows lecturers to share their specialized knowledge in a structured and recognized format, helping position themselves as thought leaders in specific fields.
- Bridge Academia and Industry
Microcredentials can be tailored to align with industry demands, helping students become more job-ready while strengthening university-industry collaboration.
- Fulfill Institutional and Policy Goals
In line with current regulations, developing microcredentials supports institutional innovation, curriculum enrichment, and lecturer performance targets.
