Moodle – Panopto Integration

In the rapidly evolving digital era, the demand for interactive and easily accessible learning media has become increasingly vital. To meet this need, UPH has adopted Panopto as its primary video media server platform.

What is Panopto?

Panopto is a video platform specifically designed to meet the needs of both educational and corporate environments. In educational settings, Panopto enables instructors and students to easily record, manage, and share educational videos. These videos can include lecture recordings, tutorials, presentations, or class discussions that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

Advantages of Panopto in Facilitating the Teaching and Learning Process

  • Ease of Use
With its intuitive interface, Panopto makes it easy for instructors to record and upload videos. Recorded videos can be automatically synchronized with PowerPoint presentations or computer screens, allowing students to seamlessly follow the material being presented.

  • Flexible Access
Students can watch videos anytime, whether at home, in the library, or on campus. This flexibility greatly supports independent learning and allows for effective review of materials before exams.

  • Integration with Moodle
Panopto integrates seamlessly with our Learning Management System (LMS), making it easier for instructors to manage video content and link it with other course materials.

Integration with Moodle

This integration simplifies the process for instructors to manage educational videos, ensuring that each video is well-organized. Here are the steps to integrate Panopto with Moodle:

  1. Navigate to the course you wish to integrate.

  2. Add the Panopto block to the course (make sure Edit mode is on; if it is already on, you can skip this step).

  3. Click on “Provision Course”. Once completed, click “Back to Course”.

  4. Copy the course name, then click on the “Course Settings” menu in the Panopto block. Open the “Overview” menu and edit the course name, pasting the name you copied earlier. This makes it easier to find the Panopto course folder.

  5. Your Moodle course is now fully integrated with the Panopto folder. By default, all videos in this folder will be accessible only to the students enrolled in the Moodle course.
